About Balloon Sinuplasty
Balloon sinuplasty is an effective and safe procedure used to treat conditions that affect the paranasal sinuses and cause unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms. As a less invasive procedure than a traditional sinus surgery, a balloon sinuplasty does not require anesthesia or the removal of bone or tissue from the nose.
At Saman ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery, board-certified otolaryngologist & head and neck surgeon Dr. Masoud Saman performs balloon sinuplasty for patients suffering from a variety of sinus conditions. He provides comprehensive management and treatment of all conditions affecting the paranasal sinuses, including chronic sinus infections, nasal polyps, allergic fungal sinusitis, and Samter’s triad (aspirin sensitivity). In addition, he administers treatment for masses and tumors affecting the paranasal sinuses, including inverting papilloma (IP), juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) and other neoplasms.
In healthy patients with mild to moderate sinus problems, Dr. Saman performs in-office balloon sinuplasty for optimal results with minimal discomfort and downtime. In more advanced conditions, endoscopic sinus surgery under general anesthesia may be considered. "I came for a consult and was put on the schedule for surgery the same day (for roughly a month later). The girls in the office are fantastic and efficient and great with follow up calls and scheduling, etc. Dr. Kelling is lovely and we talked extensively about my history and concerns about my procedure (no fancy stuff, just airflow issues). As for my procedure (septoplasty and much needed turbinate reduction), I am overwhelmingly overjoyed at being able to breathe freely agai...n. I wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and alert and I ask myself if I even need a cup of coffee. I’m no longer a slave to caffeine in the morning, I just drink it because I enjoy it. I can now smell colors! Ok, maybe not colors, but I am moved to tears at least once a day at all the things I can smell and taste again after nearly a decade of deficient airflow. My only regret is I did not find Dr. Saman sooner. Though I did not take advantage of his artistic talent in rhinoplasty (though I would have totally gone for it five years ago), I felt like it was best to overshoot rather than undershoot when it comes to a surgeon’s skill. He is very transparent about his procedures and techniques on social media, I found him on Snapchat and followed on Instragram as well and I have to say it didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable and confident he could help me. Thank you Dr. Saman! You have helped me heal in more ways than I can express."- J.A. / Facebook / Jul 10, 2018

Our Surgical Approach
At Saman ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer the most advanced and modern techniques in sinus balloon to get rid of your sinus problems, and with no general anesthesia or downtime. Balloon sinuplasty is a simple, in-office procedure that takes about 30 minutes, requires no general anesthesia, and is completely comfortable. Allergies and chronic sinus problems can lead to the frequent use of antibiotics, chronic headaches, nasal stuffiness, and drainage. Usually, a CT scan is needed to assess the drainage of the sinuses. Sometimes, medications such as nasal sprays and steroids can help resolve the problem. Other times surgery may be needed. In mild and moderate cases we prefer using the balloon system to improve sinus drainage.
What to Expect
Recovery from a balloon sinuplasty takes about one day as opposed to the 3 – 5 days that are required for a traditional sinus surgery. Dr. Saman will provide the appropriate aftercare instructions following the appointment. Patients typically do not require pain medication, but patients can use over-the-counter pain medicine if needed. The results from a balloon sinuplasty typically last for years, but this may vary depending on the severity of the patient's condition.
